Auditor General
Provide independent assurance and strengthen governance across PAHO
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO) is seeking an experienced highly principled and strategic Auditor General to lead the Office of Internal Audit and provide independent objective assurance and advisory services that enhance risk management internal controls and governance across the Organization.
The Auditor General leads a team of internal audit professionals and delivers services that add value and improve organizational performance while upholding international auditing standards and PAHOs Rules and Regulations.
Under the direct supervision of the Director the selected candidate will:
Develop and direct a long-term internal audit strategy and risk-based annual audit plans for PAHO.
Lead complex and sensitive audits and reviews ensuring high-quality reporting and follow-up on recommendations.
Assess organizational risk management processes and recommend corrective actions where needed.
Safeguard the Organizations financial resources and proactively assess and mitigate fraud risks.
Lead mentor and manage a high-performing internal audit team fostering professional development and ethical conduct.
Represent PAHO in internal and external oversight forums including within the UN common system and with Member States.

What is required for this position
Education
A bachelors and a masters degree from a recognized university in public or business administration auditing finance or any other area related to the functions of the post plus professional certification from an internationally recognized oversight body such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA); Certified Public Accountant (CPA); Chartered Accountant (CA); Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
Experience
Thirteen years of combined national and international professional experience in managing an oversight function with at least five years of supervisory experience.
Languages
Fluency in English. Knowledge of Spanish would be an asset.
IT Skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively use current technology and software as well as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Other IT skills and knowledge of software programs such as Microsoft Excel Outlook OneDrive PowerPoint Teams SharePoint and Word are considered essential.

Duration of Contract
Post of limited duration for seven years. First year probationary period.
