DESCRIPTION:
Join Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Buyer II and make a meaningful impact on global science and healthcare. Youll contribute to ensuring the seamless supply of materials that enable our customers to make the world healthier cleaner and safer. Working in a procurement environment youll manage supplier relationships drive cost optimization and ensure timely delivery of critical materials while maintaining optimal inventory levels. Youll work with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing Quality Engineering and Finance to support operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
LOCATION: This is a fully onsite position based in Madison WI. Unfortunately relocation assistance is NOT provided.

- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check which includes a drug screen.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree 2 years experience or in lieu of a degree 6 years of relevant procurement/buying experience in a manufacturing environment experience will be considered
- Preferred Fields of Study: Supply Chain Management Business Administration Operations Engineering or related field
- APICS CPIM CSCP or CIPS certification preferred
- Strong proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred Oracle JD Edwards) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word PowerPoint Outlook and especially Excel)
- Experience with MRP inventory management and supplier relationship management
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills with ability to achieve cost savings
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities to interact effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a professional environment
- Knowledge of FDA/ISO regulations and quality systems preferred
- Ability to analyze data and develop actionable insights
- Ability to critically think problem solve and work efficiently under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean Six Sigma)
- Ability to travel occasionally to supplier sites as needed
- Multi-lingual skills valued but not required
- Effective interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Understanding of the manufacturing process with the ability to avoid potential manufacturing bottlenecks.
