DESCRIPTION:
Join Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Buyer II and make a meaningful impact on global science and healthcare. Youll contribute to ensuring the seamless supply of materials that enable our customers to make the world healthier cleaner and safer. Working in a procurement environment youll manage supplier relationships drive cost optimization and ensure timely delivery of critical materials while maintaining optimal inventory levels. Youll work with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing Quality Engineering and Finance to support operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

LOCATION: This is a fully onsite position based in Madison WI. Unfortunately relocation assistance is NOT provided.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check which includes a drug screen.
  

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors degree 2 years experience or in lieu of a degree 6 years of relevant procurement/buying experience in a manufacturing environment experience will be considered
• Preferred Fields of Study: Supply Chain Management Business Administration Operations Engineering or related field
• APICS CPIM CSCP or CIPS certification preferred
• Strong proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred Oracle JD Edwards) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word PowerPoint Outlook and especially Excel)
• Experience with MRP inventory management and supplier relationship management
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills with ability to achieve cost savings
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities to interact effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Experience managing multiple priorities in a professional environment
• Knowledge of FDA/ISO regulations and quality systems preferred
• Ability to analyze data and develop actionable insights
• Ability to critically think problem solve and work efficiently under pressure
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean Six Sigma)
• Ability to travel occasionally to supplier sites as needed
• Multi-lingual skills valued but not required
• Effective interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Understanding of the manufacturing process with the ability to avoid potential manufacturing bottlenecks.
