Job Title: Correctional Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Las Animas CO
Assignment Type: Contract
Duration: 8 Weeks (Possibility of Extension)
Schedule: 36 Hours/Week
Shift: Night Shift
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care within a correctional healthcare setting. The RN will be responsible for delivering patient-centered care administering medications supporting clinical procedures and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations while maintaining safety and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care including assessment planning implementation and evaluation of patient care
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by Licensed Independent Providers
- Assist providers during examinations and medical procedures
- Conduct sick calls prepare patient lists and ensure readiness of examination areas
- Monitor and assess inmates/residents for illness or injury and initiate appropriate care or referrals
- Respond to medical emergencies and obtain treatment orders as needed
- Supervise and guide LPNs and unlicensed medical staff
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
- Ensure confidentiality and security of all medical records
- Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and coordinate appropriate care transitions
- Conduct audits related to pharmacy use and ensure compliance with regulations
- Observe and document patient behavior and health status
- Maintain safety by identifying and managing potential contraband risks in medical areas
- Provide patient education and health counseling
- Assist with preparation of reports logs and documentation
- Participate in accreditation and quality improvement activities
- Respond to legal and regulatory requirements including documentation and court-related processes if needed
- Maintain effective communication with staff providers and external agencies
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of professional RN experience
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma or Degree)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of employment
- Valid Drivers License
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work effectively in a structured and secure environment
