Job Title: Correctional Registered Nurse (RN) Location: Las Animas CO Assignment Type: Contract Duration: 8 Weeks (Possibility of Extension) Schedule: 36 Hours/Week Shift: Night Shift
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care within a correctional healthcare setting. The RN will be responsible for delivering patient-centered care administering medications supporting clinical procedures and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations while maintaining safety and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
Deliver direct nursing care including assessment planning implementation and evaluation of patient care
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by Licensed Independent Providers
Assist providers during examinations and medical procedures
Conduct sick calls prepare patient lists and ensure readiness of examination areas
Monitor and assess inmates/residents for illness or injury and initiate appropriate care or referrals
Respond to medical emergencies and obtain treatment orders as needed
Supervise and guide LPNs and unlicensed medical staff
Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
Ensure confidentiality and security of all medical records
Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and coordinate appropriate care transitions
Conduct audits related to pharmacy use and ensure compliance with regulations
Observe and document patient behavior and health status
Maintain safety by identifying and managing potential contraband risks in medical areas
Provide patient education and health counseling
Assist with preparation of reports logs and documentation
Participate in accreditation and quality improvement activities
Respond to legal and regulatory requirements including documentation and court-related processes if needed
Maintain effective communication with staff providers and external agencies
Required Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of professional RN experience
Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma or Degree)
Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of employment
Valid Drivers License
Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
Ability to work effectively in a structured and secure environment
