Locum Oncologist

Locum Square is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner specializing in Hematology/Oncology to provide locum tenens coverage at their free-standing cancer care center in Greenville South Carolina. This opportunity offers a collaborative oncology team environment and the ability to work across both outpatient and inpatient oncology settings.

The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive oncology care for adult and geriatric patients supporting the medical oncology team with outpatient visits inpatient rounding during call coverage and management of oncology-related conditions.

• Start Date: ASAP upon credentialing
• Assignment Length: Through end of September
• Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 60 days
• Practice Setting: Free-standing cancer center

• Tuesday: 4:30 PM 8:00 AM (phone call coverage)
• Friday Monday:
  • Friday 4:30 PM Monday 8:00 AM
  • Includes inpatient rounding on Saturday and Sunday
• Call Rotation: Approximately every 5 6 weeks depending on staffing

• Patient Population: Adult and Geriatric
• Average Outpatient Volume: 15 patients per day
• Average Inpatient Volume (during call/rounding): 20 patients

Practice Composition

• 65% Benign Hematology
• 35% Malignant Oncology

Team Structure

• Physicians: 8
• Advanced Practice Providers: 4

• Manage oncology and hematology patients in outpatient and inpatient settings
• Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic imaging studies
• Prescribe medications and treatment plans
• Manage blood bank coordination and bone marrow transplant-related care
• Participate in patient phone call coverage and inpatient rounding during call rotation
• Collaborate closely with physicians and oncology nursing staff

Chemotherapy Administration: Performed by Oncology Nursing Staff

• Board Certified in Hematology/Oncology Required
• Active South Carolina Nurse Practitioner License Required
  • Candidates needing to obtain an SC license will be considered
• BLS Certification Required
• DEA Required
• Self-Query NPDB report within 30 days of submission Required
