Job Title: Certified Surgical Technician (CST)
Location: New York NY 10003
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Days 11:00 AM 7:00 PM (5x7.5 37.5 hours/week; schedule may vary)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technician (CST) to provide surgical support in an oral surgery clinic and ambulatory procedure setting. This role requires strong clinical skills attention to detail and the ability to assist providers efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in chair-side assistance sterile technique and patient care throughout all phases of surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide surgical assistance to residents and attending providers during procedures
- Escort patients to treatment areas and prepare them for surgery
- Review medical records to confirm procedures and ensure documentation is complete
- Maintain strict infection control by cleaning and disinfecting equipment and surfaces
- Prepare and organize sterile instruments trays and surgical supplies
- Provide chair-side (four-handed) assistance including suctioning passing instruments and monitoring patient status
- Assist with patient monitoring including vital signs and comfort during procedures
- Take radiographs as requested before during or after procedures
- Restock supplies and maintain inventory of surgical materials
- Properly dispose of medical waste and break down procedure areas post-surgery
- Respond effectively in emergency situations
Required Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist training program
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) NBSTSA
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technician (5 years preferred)
- Experience in oral surgery or ambulatory surgical settings preferred
- Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong attention to detail and patient care focus
