STEM Teacher Oxford Middle School, FTE

Oxford Public Schools is looking for a dynamic educator to ignite student curiosity in the area of STEM.

Applicants must hold current CT State certification in one or more of the following areas: Math (029) Science (0) Computer Science (110) and/or Technology Education (047)

• Middle school experience preferred.
• Support the design and implementation of a robust project-based curriculum that serves as an engaging elective experience for all students in grades 6-8.
• Facilitates the instruction and oversight in the use of varied instructional technologies including CAD software 3D printing robotics computer programming and other technologies related to engineering.
• Guides students through the Engineering Design Process to solve real-world problems emphasizing the transition from scientific hypothesis to iterative prototyping and testing.
• Effectively manages the learning environment to optimize student learning and engagement to meet the needs of all students.
• Creates an atmosphere conducive to exploration innovation and learning while maintaining the physical condition and organization of the classroom and materials.
• Demonstrates expertise in laboratory safety and management overseeing the use of scientific instruments and consumables while maintaining a secure environment for high-engagement kinetic learning.
• Reviews selects and acquires tools and technology to accommodate different learning styles and promote student engagement.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues to improve the learning of all students; ability to positively engage students and families in the learning process.
• Proactive flexible team player and effective communicator.
• Other duties as determined by the principal.
