To have the responsibility of providing technical support in geotechnical. This support is crucial for ensuring the safe and effective functioning of the mine while also maintaining procedures that prevent accidents and injuries
Responsibilities-
- Develop geotechnical design criteria to support safe & optimal mine operations.
- Assist in the Development and maintenance of the Gold Mine Ground Control Management Plan
- Plan & manage the installation of mine wide geotechnical monitoring systems.
- Assist with continuous improvements in drilling and blast designs while ensuring they comply with the best practice of the industry and site standards as they relate to Geotechnical Wall Control blasting.
- Coordinate with the Drill and Blast Engineers to ensure maximum utilization of production drilling equipment as it relates to Geotechnical Wall Control blasting.
- Advice planning and operations personnel on geotechnical issues relating to production drilling blast and mine design.
- Perform critical review of technical reports analyses design plans specifications cost estimates and develop appropriate recommendations. Stay abreast of the state of the practice in geotechnical engineering to fulfill this role.
- Manage the project and serve as subject matter expert on large/complex site planning/construction expansion or modifications. Provide guidance to mining manager and engineers on applicable programs practices and regulations.
- Supervise in-the-field effort on site reconnaissance geologic mapping geotechnical drilling geotechnical profiling geotechnical instrumentation construction quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) activities for design tailings embankments foundations and/or other mining infrastructure.
- Contribute to strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated engineering areas.
- Proactively seek improvements to the safe and geotechnically stable operation of open pit tailings storage facilities etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education-
- . in Mining Engineering or Geology
Experience-
- At least 7 years of experience with demonstrated knowledge and experience at open pit.
Technical Skills-
- Knowledge in the principles and practices of geological and/or geotechnical engineering or a related field of science or engineering.
- Expertise in modelling and numerical approaches to solving engineering challenges.
- Knowledge of appropriate software (MS Office AutoCAD and geotechnical analysis)
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety of yourself and others.
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
- Proficiency in using geotechnical software.
- Strong background within Pit Wall Stability/ Blast Design/ Pit Design techniques
Preferred Training-
- Geotechnical software training/certificate.
Required Skills:
At least 7 years of experience with demonstrated knowledge and experience at open pit.
