Job Summary

a. Plan manage and ensure that all survey activities relating to construction and open pit mining activities drawing of plans and sections are carried out efficiently and in conformity with

specifications and current standard professional practices.

b. Maintain accurate records of all statistics in connection with construction plans and mine production layout of developments and projects ore reserves and make them available upon request by

management and to satisfy the statutory mining Laws of Oman and best practices of the industry.

c. Develop good working relationships with the Mining Department.

d. Supervise safety duties such as Safety Meetings Safety Audits JHAs Safety interaction and intervention Risk Assessments and other safety duties in accordance with MMC SOPs.

e. Adhere to all regulatory requirements.

f. Participate in improving the culture of safety within the Survey department.

g. Distribution and supervision of details of survey work such as lines of development of open pit benches roads and ramps according to specific layout requirements by the planning department.

h. Conducts check surveys and checks levels in order to ascertain the accuracy of jobs done by the subordinates.

i. Ensures that mining job requests are promptly attended to and when completed relevant information is issued out.

j. Use all parameters available to determine the tonnage and volume of the monthly ore and waste production for the purposes of reconciliation.

k. Submit updated plans and sections of mine development areas quarterly and annually to related government departments stipulated by the Minerals and Mining Laws of Oman.

l. Prepare and submit monthly volume and tonnage performance reports (as built).

m. Assist with the training and development of subordinates within the department.

n. Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time by your supervisor.

Requirements

Education:

Surveying.

Preferred Training:

Certificates for at least one of the mine design software like Deswik Datamine Surpac or Micromine.

Certificate for Autocad.

Experience:

Minimum of seven (7) years open pit mine surveying experience.

Experience in managing a survey department.

Having experience as an Expat is an advantage.

Technical Skills:

Knowledge and awareness in HSE.

To use the latest technology like drones and GPS devices.

Advanced computer skills.

Soft Skills:

Problem solving.

Good interpersonal skill with having respect to Omani culture.

Good management and organizational abilities.

Required Skills:

Education Bachelors degree in geology. Qualification in Economic Geology will be an added advantage. Minimum 10 years of experience as an exploration geologist with increasing levels of responsibility is preferred. Exposure to sedimentary basins and associated commercial deposits. Multiple commodities including various industrial minerals (dolomite gypsum silica limestone phosphate olivine soda ash). Experience with green energy minerals and REE will be well regarded Special Skills & Knowledge: Knowledge of mineral deposits sedimentary basin analysis and models and exploration methods used to evaluate and discover industrial mineral deposits. Ability to identify various minerals that are used in industrial applications and instruct staff to recognize favourable geologic settings for exploration. Understanding of the technical and economic attributes of industrial minerals and granular and crushed rock aggregate Being fit to conduct exertive field work. General understanding of mining operations. Good working knowledge and skills with GIS MX Deposit and Leapfrog software Experience in due diligence activities and auditing.
