As part of Pharma Technical Operations (PT) Pharma Technical Technology (PTT) plays a key role in leading a seamless industrialization and thorough technical product management through integrating SHE proactive maintenance facilityness performance optimization and scalable manufacturing processes and technologies in support of the manufacturing network. Product and process robustness efficiency and reliability are key performance indicators PTT owns and drives towards improvement.
Within PTT Roches global Manufacturing Science and Technology (gMSAT) department is the process and product owner for our commercial products including our internal and external drug substance and drug product network implementation of new technologies network standardization and mitigation of technical risks. The team is organized by product-focused Large Molecule and Small Molecule (DS & DP) Technology and Network Standards and Operations (Process Stewards and Pilot Plant) teams and operates in cross-functional squads and circles.
The Global MSAT Technology Deployment Group Lead reporting to the Global Head of Drug Product MSAT is accountable for leading an execution-driven team to systematically deploy and sustainably scale new technologies in partnership with the manufacturing network PTT engineering and the network of the future team in order to deliver the current and future product this role you will lead a team composed of technology deployment stewards supported by a team of pilot plant technicians.
The Technology Deployment Group Lead provides direction and overall leadership for the technology deployment stewards maximizing individual and collective contributions and ultimately delivering timely business results in support of PTT and PT will enable these teams to deliver new technology as part of CAPEX delivery framework solve operational challenges through innovative and scalable technology implementation in the DP manufacturing networks and drive network standardisation.
In this role you will represent the technological needs of the DP network in key technical governance forums and senior stakeholder interactions. You will be part of the Global MSAT Leadership Team closely collaborating with partnering functions such as Engineering Development Strategy Quality and DP Manufacturing network. You will ensure rigorous project management practices in all technology deployment projects enforce adherence to established project timelines proactively identifying and mitigating potential delays or resource constraints to ensure timely delivery of new technologies.
The Opportunity
Lead a global network of 46 senior technology experts focused on execution driving deployment and scalable adoption of new technologies across manufacturing including pilot-based experimentation to improve product robustness throughout the lifecycle.
Coach develop engage and ensure effective staffing resource allocation standards prioritization processes and work package definition for this senior scientific team.
Own and manage portfolio-level master plans (DP) based on technology and continuous improvement opportunities.
Identify prioritize and oversee execution of portfolio-level risk mitigation strategies for processes and tech transfers including escalation of portfolio challenges when required.
Define and drive the vision for technology deployment aligned with Roche strategy and PTT/PT outcomes while contributing as an extended PTT leadership member to set vision and priorities.
Interface and align with Technical Development Manufacturing (internal/external) network of the future gMSAT PTT teams and governance bodies (TPC DSTS DPTC) to ensure strategic alignment and correct portfolio placement.
Ensure cross-portfolio alignment to deliver global technical initiatives and multi-product activities effectively.
Prioritize technology implementation and guide investment decisions based on value delivery and long-term product health supporting governance and review committees.
Define success criteria track implementation progress and value realization across the network and act as a digital thought leader driving data and digital initiatives with a PT lens.
Who you are
Education & Experience: B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Biochemical Engineering or related field with 10 years in pharma/biotech; PhD is an advantage
Domain Expertise: Strong understanding of process engineering pharmaceutical operations/manufacturing or technology implementation
Leadership Experience: Significant people leadership experience using advanced VACC leadership skills
Technical Expertise: Deep expertise in cGMP project implementation and DP Parenteral / Aseptic processes
Industrialization & Improvement: Proven track record in process improvement and technology industrialization for large molecules
Functional Background: Experience from technical development MSAT OPEX Lean & Project management or operational roles
Quality/Regulatory Knowledge: Background in quality and/or regulatory is a plus
Strategic & Interpersonal Skills: Strategic thinker aligned with Roches leadership model; strong communicator who fosters collaboration feedback and inclusivity
Travel: Less than 10% travel required
