Job Summary
An exciting opportunity exists for an accomplished Senior Professional Mechanical Engineer to take technical leadership on complex building services projects across healthcare commercial and large infrastructure developments.
This role is ideal for a consulting engineer who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment enjoys mentoring teams and is passionate about delivering high-performance engineering solutions from concept through commissioning.

Job Description:
- Lead multidisciplinary building services projects from feasibility through to commissioning and close-out
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously ensuring delivery within scope budget and programme
- Coordinate closely with architects structural civil and electrical engineering teams
- Act as the primary technical interface with clients contractors and regulatory authorities
- Oversee mechanical design quality technical compliance and documentation standards
- Provide strategic engineering input and technical direction to project teams
- Ensure installation quality and successful project execution on site
- Mentor and develop junior engineers technologists and draughting staff
- Manage project risks commercial performance and resource planning
- Maintain adherence to South African engineering standards and statutory regulations
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 812 years experience in mechanical engineering within the built environment
- Strong background in consulting engineering and multidisciplinary project environments
- Demonstrated experience delivering healthcare facilities hospitals clinics commercial buildings and mixed-use developments
- Proven leadership experience managing mechanical engineering teams
Technical Expertise Required:
- Healthcare mechanical systems design including:
- Medical Gas Systems
- Compressed Air Systems
- LPG Installations
- Centralised Hot Water Systems
- HVAC design for large buildings and integrated Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Advanced knowledge of South African engineering codes and standards
- Strong stakeholder coordination and communication skills
- Excellent technical reporting and documentation ability
- Commercial awareness including fee management and project planning
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining engineering quality
Qualification:
- BEng / BSc Eng Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Registration as Eng with ECSA (essential)
