Job Summary
Job Overview:
We are seeking a qualified experienced tutor with a strong understanding of neurodiversity to support a Grade 9 learner following the IEB curriculum. The learner experiences challenges with working memory and slower processing speed requiring patient structured and engaging one-on-one support.
The ideal candidate is personable fun-loving and passionate about education. They should be skilled at breaking down and compartmentalising information so that only the most important content is conveyed while making learning practical exciting and accessible. This role requires someone sophisticated enough to understand how the neurodiverse brain works and able to adapt teaching strategies to suit the learners needs.
Purpose of the role:
The essence of this role is to provide consistent one-on-one academic support that builds confidence strengthens comprehension and equips the learner with practical tools for success. The tutor will help the learner catch up after school develop note-taking and exam techniques and foster critical appraisal skills to ensure knowledge can be effectively demonstrated in assessments.
Job Objectives
- One-on-one academic tutoring across all subjects with focused support in Afrikaans Mathematics and Science.
- Teaching note-taking skills and strategies for exam preparation.
- Supporting comprehension and critical appraisal to improve exam performance. Delivering information repetitively and in chunks to make it accessible and practical.
- Helping the learner manage working memory and slower processing speed through tailored strategies.
- Making learning engaging fun and confidence-building. Providing structured input for other subjects as needed.

Previous tutoring or teaching experience Essential.
Experience supporting neurodivergent learners Essential.
Job-Related Knowledge
Familiarity with IEB curriculum Desirable.
Understanding of working memory and processing speed challenges Essential.
Knowledge of exam techniques and study skills Essential.

Benefits
Working Hours & Compensation
- Mondays to Thursdays 1 hour in the evenings at the familys residence.
- Hourly rate: R200-R220/hour depending on qualifications and experience.
