The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for supporting our cross functional Chemistry Lab team at Wade Road Basingstoke. Working Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:00 and Friday 08:00-14:30. Your main focus will be to support the teams working in the Chemistry Laboratory with day-to-day maintenance tasks. Once fully trained you will have the opportunity to get more involved with our customer-facing projects and learn antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) and our analytical chemistry techniques that support the AST discs product range.

What will you do
- Maintain stocks of chemicals bacterial organisms and consumables related to R&D projects;
- Ensure that the laboratory operates efficiently including calibration of equipment and ordering of diverse materials;
- Support the laboratory safety and housekeeping processes through regular auditing;
- Assist with the maintenance of laboratory equipment such as HPLCs;
- Conduct practical experiments that will advise product development and improvement decisions;
- Working with internal collaborators you will support the execution of project tasks and produce laboratory reports;
- Working to defined procedures you will feed into to the decision process for selection of methods in a project;
- Developing subject knowledge you will interpret and record data and draw valid conclusions;
- Work to address problems fix routine methods and interpret unexpected results;
- Handling both project and non-project activities you will coordinate your own work and adapt to the changing business priorities;
- Along with your colleagues you will assist in the development and maintenance of R&D processes.
Who we are looking for: (experience skills & abilities)
- You are newly graduated with a degree or equivalent either in microbiology or related subject or in chemistry or related subject;
- You have good basic laboratory skills (preferred if you have worked with microorganisms and chemicals);
- A good teammate you are able to work effectively with others;
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- You are adept at coordinating your time and prioritizing your tasks.
