We are seeking a versatile and proactive School Caretaker to join a committed facilities team in Mansfield. Located on the edge of the historic Sherwood Forest and boasting a proud heritage in coal and textiles Mansfield is a town that values hard work and local pride. We are looking for an individual who can balance the rigour of site security with the technical demands of building maintenance ensuring the school remains a first-class facility for students and staff alike.
Core Responsibilities
Site Security & Access: Managing the daily opening and closing of the school gates and buildings including the arming/disarming of sophisticated alarm systems and acting as a primary keyholder for emergency call-outs.
Maintenance & Handyman Duties: Carrying out essential repairs across the siteincluding basic plumbing carpentry redecoration and glazingto ensure the learning environment is always at its best.
Health & Safety Compliance: Executing critical safety checks including weekly fire alarm testing emergency lighting inspections and rigorous water temperature monitoring for Legionella prevention.
Grounds Stewardship: Maintaining the schools external appearance including litter management basic landscaping and ensuring all pathways are safe and gritted during the winter months.
Contractor Coordination: Escorting and supervising external tradespeople (electricians heating engineers etc.) ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with school risk assessments.
Porterage & Setup: Managing the physical setup for school lifefrom moving exam desks and staging for performances to coordinating the delivery and distribution of heavy supplies.

Candidate Profile
