We are seeking a methodical and proactive Attendance Administrator to join a dedicated support team in Barnet. Located in a leafy high-aspiration North London borough known for its exceptional educational standards this school views attendance not just as a statistic but as the foundation of student achievement. We are looking for an individual who can manage the rigour of daily reporting while maintaining the empathy required to work with families and external agencies.
Core Responsibilities
Data Management: Overseeing the daily AM and PM registration process ensuring all registers are completed accurately and on time using school management systems (SIMS Arbor or Bromcom).
First-Day Response: Executing the first-day calling procedure contacting parents and carers to ascertain the reasons for unexplained absences and ensuring all students are accounted for.
Reporting & Analysis: Generating weekly termly and annual attendance reports for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Governors identifying trends and persistent absence (PA) concerns.
Parental Liaison: Acting as a key point of contact for parents regarding attendance conducting meetings to discuss barriers to schooling and issuing formal correspondence where necessary.
Safeguarding & Welfare: Working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and the Pastoral Team to flag Children Missing in Education (CME) and supporting the referral process to the Local Authoritys Education Welfare Officer (EWO).
Incentive Programmes: Coordinating whole-school attendance initiatives such as certificates house competitions and rewards assemblies to promote a culture of 100% Attendance.

Candidate Profile
Experience: Proven experience in a data-heavy administrative role is essential; direct experience in a school attendance or admissions office is highly advantageous.
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs pivot tables) and a high level of comfort with school management information systems (MIS).
Communication: The ability to communicate with authority and empathy particularly when dealing with difficult conversations or sensitive family circumstances.
Character: A detail-oriented resilient and highly organised individual who understands the critical link between school attendance and safeguarding.
