Job Summary

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Redbridge to assist with the appointment of an Income Officer on a 2-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 19.00 - 25.04 per hour

Summary:

The Income Officer role sits within the Revenues Benefits & Transactional Centre and focuses on income collection debt recovery and supporting vulnerable residentsparticularly care-experienced young peoplewith housing-related financial matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage invoicing and collection of fees and charges across council departments.
  • Proactively monitor and recover outstanding debts ensuring targets are met.
  • Support care-experienced young people with housing benefit and Universal Credit processes.
  • Create and manage rent accounts within the housing management system (Cx).
  • Act as liaison between Housing Benefit/Universal Credit teams and housing/childrens services.
  • Provide advice and support to residents regarding rent benefits and housing obligations.

Essentials:

  • Strong experience in debt collection income recovery or housing-related services.
  • Good knowledge of housing legislation (Housing Act 1996 Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 Protection from Eviction Act 1977).
  • Understanding of welfare benefits including Universal Credit and Housing Benefit.
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals and providing customer-focused support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle complex cases.
