We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Principal Engineer.
The Opportunity
The role holders primary responsibility is tobetrusted partner with Business accelerating AI adoption andthe beacon ofEngineering Excellence acrossFinanceIT. The successful candidate willdemonstratea passion fordesigning anddelivering quality software efficiently(ideally zero toil). The candidate will drivehigh standardsacross the department and be a role model exemplifying these standards. The candidatewill be able to develop and communicate technical strategy and influenceseniorstakeholdersin the delivery of IT solutions aligned to HSBC Technologys strategic vision.
This position plays an instrumental role in driving technical delivery and best in class design & code across a portfolio of agile teams in the Finance IT within Enterprise Technology. Theambition for Enterprise Technology is building an exceptional and trusted digital experience for colleagues & clients.
There is a specific emphasis onFinanceAIandRegulatory Reportingto bedeveloped and executed at scale. For this to be successful podswill need to sustain ahigh degree of engineering discipline. ThePrincipalEngineeris thekey rolethatfacilitatesand enablesthis.

Experience of designing and runninghighly availablesystems (ex. Trading Systems Banking apps & services)

Being comfortable working in an area where requirements design and outcomes might be ambiguous
Ability to follow the industry shifts and offerings across thefull-stackincludingAIContainers Kubernetes Cloud data lakesstorageand networking in Cloud environments.
