Job Summary

Summary:
The Technician Field Service will evaluate all types of refrigeration; heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment; and schedule maintenance or repair. The Technician Field Service will be skilled in set-point scheduling direct digital control (DDC) hardware computerized control high and low-pressure relief valves and operational mechanical equipment. The Technician Field Service will report to the Specialist 3 HVAC.

Responsibilities:
Evaluates conditions of all types of refrigeration and HVAC equipment such as air conditioning units (central wall and window) walk-in and chest-type freezers ice machines water coolers and other refrigeration equipment; schedules regular maintenance preventative maintenance and repairs.

Provides indoor environmental comfort with set-point scheduling as well as safe and efficient operation of mechanical equipment.

Makes field repairs to DDC hardware and make software modifications as required.

Analyzes diagnoses and troubleshoots faults and conditions of computerized control software/hardware.

Repairs failure alarms for various software systems or language within the district.

Prepares necessary drawings and sketches as required.

Requisitions and maintains replacement parts in central stock format to permit expeditious repairs using in-house capability to maximum extent feasible.

Repairs or replaces refrigeration/HVAC by checking both high- and low-pressure relief valves including checking all safety devices and controls.

Operates reamers threading machines taps and other related tools and equipment.

Moves places and provides safe operation of ladders and general work habits.

Requires a general understanding of miscellaneous maintenance tools and their basic use and operation in a safe manner consistent with current district and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

Assists with installs maintains alters and repairs trade-related components in district facilities.

Follows-up and verifies completion of requested service work.

Operates all hand and power tools to perform functions for specific trades.

Adheres to principles and practices of safe use including but not limited to operation and maintenance of equipment tools materials and district-owned vehicles.

Performs clean-up and worksite restoration activities such as retrieving excess repair materials cleaning flooring replacing all tools in toolbox and wiping down surfaces.

Responds to emergency call-outs after hours.

Attends safety and other related training required by the district to keep abreast of current technology relevant to these trades.

Performs any other duties as assigned.

Experience: Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in HVAC refrigeration controls set-point scheduling DDC hardware computerized control high and low-pressure relief valves or operational mechanical equipment.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification Type 1 and Type 2 required. Florida Class E drivers license required.

Language Skills: Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence. Speaks effectively before groups of individuals.

Mathematical Skills: Adds subtracts multiplies and divides in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Computes rate ratio and percent and draws and interprets bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Deals with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of relevant and current computer software programs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical Activities: Standing walking sitting climbing balancing stooping kneeling crouching bending crawling handling keyboarding talking hearing smelling depth perception color vision and field of vision.

Lifting Demands: Up to 55 pounds.

Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.

Environmental Conditions: Noise Intensity: 3 moderate.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires traveling to various school sites work locations and/or community organizations throughout the district.
