Job Summary

Preference will be given to qualified regular part-time employees within the bargaining unit at Sheridan College. Should a suitable candidate not be found external candidates will be considered.


Reporting to the Senior Manager of the Centre for Experiential Learning the Field Placement Coordinator is responsible for developing promoting coordinating implementing and maintaining clinical field placement sites in consultation with the program coordinator. The incumbent supports all Site Supervisor relationships for the Diagnostic Imaging programs. The incumbent supports all eligible students obtain a practicum by the start of the relevant term. The incumbent participates in reviewing and revising Diagnostic Imaging specific and CEL general processes.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Arranging and coordinating field placement sites for the Diagnostic Imaging programs for all relevant semesters; determining and managing lists of students scheduled for placement;
  • Developing and maintaining community partner relationships;
  • Managing the field placement database in Sheridan Works;
  • Consulting with the Diagnostic Imaging Program Coordinator regarding placement scheduling issues and needs; reassessing placement sites on a routine basis;
  • Compiling reviewing and distributing field placement materials to students field placement sites and faculty support staff and program coordinators;
  • Conducting field visits as required by students faculty and agencies;
  • Educating and informing Students Clinical Instructors Placement Supervisors Sheridan Faculty and Program Coordinators about the placement model policies procedures and requirements of the College and Placement Site;
  • Conducting pre- placement classroom meetings presentations/workshops with students and/or Clinical Instructors to educate them about the placement requirements policies and procedures needed to secure a placement;
  • Establishing and maintaining administrative policies procedures and documentation requirements for placement related issues;
  • Responding to students and field inquiries about placement requirements;
  • Providing link with program faculty and Professional Advisory Council members to ensure consistency between program curriculum and field placement;
  • Developing and updating the Field Manual and other placement related information as needed;
  • Developing and maintaining community relationships through planning and organizing special events and representing Sheridan at relevant community meetings;
  • Attending Clinical and Experiential Learning team meetings and faculty meetings when required;
  • Engaging as an active member of the Clinical and Experiential Learning team including development of new/revised processes and infrastructure;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.


About You

You have the skills and knowledge to work with an increasingly diverse student and staff population as well as a proven commitment to anti-oppression equity and inclusion.

You have strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment including peak-period deadlines.

The successful candidate will also meet the following requirements:

  • Diagnostic Imaging diploma or diploma in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working in a Diagnostic Imaging department is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating field/clinical placements or WIL (multi-site scheduling student-to-site matching timelines documentation).
  • Strong knowledge of placement compliance and onboarding requirements (e.g. immunizations police checks privacy/confidentiality mask fit testing hospital onboarding portals).
  • Experience managing affiliation agreements and partner documentation (tracking renewals requirements; liaising with legal/partner sites).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication (ability to build and maintain relationships with hospital partners; clear professional timely follow-up).
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive student issues with discretion and follow established escalation pathways (equity/EDI-informed practice and confidentiality).
  • Administrative/supervisory experience working with a variety of resources using marketing and public relations skills and techniques is an asset.
  • Experience in an educational role supporting and guiding students is an asset.
  • The ability to use mediation and conflict resolution skills is preferred.
  • High proficiency with scheduling and tracking tools and database management experience with systems such as HSPnet Synergy and/or Comptracker is an asset.
