TITLE: SGC AVID for All! Summer Transition Program Support Staff (Multiple Positions Available)
LOCATION: Urbana Sixth Grade Center
SUPERVISOR: SGC AVID for All! Summer Transition Coordinator building administrative team and the program director
SUPERVISES: Students
JOB SUMMARY: The SGC AVID for All! Summer Transition Support Staff will provide additional support to rising sixth transitions to the Urbana Sixth Grade Center teachers and the program coordinator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Answer questions and provide a reteach of information to students participating in the program.
- Actively participate in the program contribute to daily instruction and complete all assigned tasks.
- Initiate and encourage students attending the program. Maintain a positive relationship with the students and staff working in the program.
- Ask for guidance and assistance from the coordinator when unable to assist a student.
- Monitor and supervise the students within assigned areas of the school.
- Support positive approaches for dealing with student behavior.
- Utilize de-escalation strategies when needed.
- Arrive and depart on time for your scheduled work.
- Perform other duties as assigned. (i.e.: taking attendance meal counts program arrival and departure).
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
- Associates Degree or 60 hours of college credit required
- Bachelors degree preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Experience working in a school setting
- Internal applicants only
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- De-escalation strategies and social and emotional learning strategies
- Leadership skills
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Hourly position at the rate of $22/hour
- Position is for transition program running August 3 2026 - August 7 2026
- Orientation meeting scheduled prior to the program startup.
START DATE: Orientation meeting scheduled prior to the program startup
NOTE: This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position. Position contingent upon grant funding.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of support staff.
