Description

Essential Purpose: The Director of Instruction is responsible for organizing budgeting developing promoting scheduling and conducting golf instructional programs that meet customer demands and needs. Working with the Director of Golf and Golf Course Superintendent this position will manage and maintain the golf range/teaching area assure consistently high-quality service levels.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage oversee and direct the total golf instruction and player development programming for the facility.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art teaching and learning theories and be able to integrate the use of teaching aids videotape launch monitors etc. when appropriate in all programs.
  • Develop implement and promote club fittings and program equipment sale.
  • Train employees on club fitting golf instruction standards equipment sales and player development offerings.
  • Supervise customer requests regarding or pertaining to schedule of lessons and instructional golf.
  • Supervise and coordinate upkeep of the golf range to ensure that safe clean organized and professional conditions exist at all times. This would include all Guest Service and Pro Shop employees.
  • Maintain teaching aids and equipment inventory in excellent condition.
  • Attend all meetings scheduled by the management team; i.e. Head Golf Professional Director of Golf General Manager and Golf Course Superintendent.
  • Represent the facility and the Director of Golf in community service to create a positive relationship with media (TV-radio-newspapers) and local business through promotional activities and programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (General Duties):

  • To promote & comply with all policies and procedures of Temecula Creek Inn
  • To immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions.
  • To maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times.
  • To practice safe work habits at all times to avoid injury to self and others including compliance with company and departmental safety rules and regulations and the proper use of handling all relevant equipment.
  • To attend all mandatory meetings as directed.
  • To perform other tasks including cross-training as directed.

CREATIVE ABILITY:

  • Create instructional programs to enhance service and maintain interest and enthusiasm among all customer segments.
  • Assist in marketing and promotion for instruction programming
  • Create player development programs to foster both a recreational fun environment plus a competitive environment (as appropriate for each market segment).
  • The Director of Instruction is responsible for attending weekly leadership meetings for the resort.
  • Assist in hiring firing and disciplining Golf Department staff
  • All employees who are authorized to give instruction will be directly managed by the Director of Instruction.

RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Maintain regular open contact with both supervisors and staff instructors to ensure teamwork and consistency in teaching programs.
  • Possess a personality trait that will make people feel welcome reflecting favorably on the facility


Requirements

EDUCATION:

  • Maintain professional expertise through related courses and learning opportunities in golf training player development management and accounting.
  • Encourage staff instructors to engage in learning opportunities to maintain professional expertise and provide resources to meet those objectives.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & TRAITS:

  • Maintain PGA of America membership in good standing and mentor associates through the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGM) program
  • If a PGA Associate make steady progress toward completion of PGA membership requirements
  • Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf rules of golf golf instruction and teaching methodology
  • Fundamental supervisory practices and principles
  • Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees
  • Strong organizational planning and prioritization skills
  • Self-motivated with desire to promote and market
  • Service and customer focused attitude
  • Experienced in written and oral business communications
  • Remain up to date on customer relations management and player development initiatives
  • Experienced computer user including; Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications i.e. Email Internet tournament and database
  • Attend conferences workshops meetings and trade shows to keep abreast of current trends in the industry
  • Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community
  • Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations and marketing and business trends

Knowledge Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. English fluency required. Must have successfully completed Business School I & II of the PGA program and I and II of the Players Ability Test (PAT). Must be a PGA Class A member in good standing and successfully complete a standard players ability test. Must have completed PGA oral and written interview requirements as well as PGA packet and all chapters. Previous experience in a resort of comparable quality preferred. Familiar with OSHA SB198 local Department of Health regulations and relevant current laws governing handling of hazardous substances. Valid California drivers license required. Proof of personal automobile insurance coverage required.

Physical Demands: Stands/walks approximately 65-70% of shift. Sits/drives approximately 30-35% of shift. Occasionally required to handle and move objects weighing up to 25 lbs. over short distances. Bends stoops reaches and lifts to perform routine job tasks. Must be able to work well under pressure. Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of exposure to sun. Must be flexible to work long sometimes irregular hours. Flexibility and good reflexes required to operate electric cart. Frequent use of stairs daily.

$60000/ YR plus incentives
