The Dean of Students serves as a member of the High School administrative team and assists with the daily operations of the school. The Dean assists the principal in discipline and attendance. The Dean promotes a successful education process for the students by giving them guidance toward resolving attendance and overt behavioral problems that interfere with their education.
MAJOR TASKS:
- Support CCUSD vision mission goals.
- Administers district school policies and regulations as they relate to student behavior discipline attendance and their application to due process.
- Meets and conferences with students parents and teachers when necessary regarding discipline and attendance problems.
- Directs and supervises the maintenance of attendance and discipline records.
- Researches discipline and attendance problem areas and develops follow-up procedures.
- Coordinates and cooperates with the community law enforcement agencies.
- Coordinates and cooperates with the SRO (school resource office) and alternative programs.
- Implements and manages the student attendance reporting procedures.
- Supervises student clubs as directed by the principal.
- Develops and maintains records for student drop out recovery.
- Develops and maintains knowledge and necessary skills in the current trends and practices of the secondary education.
- Monitor and implement campus safety policies and procedures.
- Supervises extra curricular activities.
- Participates in district educational meetings for the purpose of developing a stronger educational program.
- Evaluates and supervises faculty and staff as assigned by the principal.
- Implements all School Board Policies and Procedures.
- Performs other tasks as may be assigned by the principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Arizona Teaching Certificate and an appropriate Arizona Administrative Certificate.
- Masters Degree from an accredited institution approved by the Governing Board.
- At least five (5) years successful teaching experience or such alternatives as the Superintendent and Administration may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find acceptable
