Cleveland Clinic London is seeking an experienced and motivated Pathology Laboratory Manager to join our dynamic laboratory team. We offer a competitive salary alongside the opportunity to work in a world-class clinical environment.
As a Laboratory Manager you will take responsibility for the day-to-day operational technical and scientific management of the laboratory. Working closely with the Pathology Services Manager (Laboratory Director) and consultants you will ensure the highest standards of quality efficiency and patient care are consistently delivered.
Within this role your work will span multiple laboratory sections including biochemistry haematology immunology coagulation immunology serology microbiology and blood transfusion.

What will your duties include
- Ensure performance of routine and specialized diagnostic tests ensuring precision and timely results to support patient care.
- Ensure laboratory activities comply with applicable legislation regulatory requirements and accreditation standards including those of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) and Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
- Maintain and support laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance through effective quality management systems (QMS) SOPs and documentation.
- Coordinate internal and external audits inspections and accreditation assessments ensuring timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory health safety and environmental requirements including risk assessments and safe working practices.
- Ensure all processes adhere to UKAS and ISO 15189:2022 standards participating in audit and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure that all data is accurately recorded in the LIMS always adhering to GDPR regulations.
- Validate and authorize lab results as outlined in departmental policies.
What we need from you
- Bachelors degree in biomedical science or equivalent experience (Essential)
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
- Previous line management experience
- Prior management experience in a clinical laboratory environment particularly in performing routine and specialized tests across areas such as biochemistry and haematology.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and quality control processes especially those aligned with UKAS and ISO 15189:2022 standards.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipment and effectively communicating results to clinical teams.
- Experience in assay validation involvement in quality improvement initiatives and some supervisory or mentoring experience in a laboratory setting. (Desirable)
