Location: Hyannis MA 02601
Job Type: Contract (13 Weeks) Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Schedule: 40 Hours/Week Rotating Shifts
- Shift Options: 6:00 AM 7:00 PM (6a2p 7a3p 8a4p 9a5p 10a6p 11a7p)
- Occasional weekends and holidays required
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Donor Care Specialist to support blood collection and donor care activities in a laboratory or blood center setting. This role involves performing phlebotomy procedures ensuring donor safety and delivering excellent customer service throughout the donation process.
Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy procedures including collection of whole blood units using appropriate techniques
- Ensure donor safety and comfort throughout the donation process
- Monitor donors for adverse reactions and respond appropriately
- Maintain accurate documentation and donor records
- Follow infection control safety and regulatory guidelines
- Provide education and clear instructions to donors before during and after donation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow in a fast-paced environment
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior phlebotomy experience (required)
- Experience collecting blood units using 16-gauge needles
- Experience in blood donor programs (hospital-based or blood centers)
- BLS Certification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer proficiency
Preferred Qualifications
- National certification in Phlebotomy
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program
