Job Summary
This is a position based in Bangalore India
The Cloud Platform Engineering team is responsible for the Platforms Tools and CI/CD pipelines at Calix. We are seeking a Staff Cloud Engineer with proven expertise in the design and building of large-scale Cloud Infrastructure Platforms to join our team and help us deliver the foundation on which Calix products can thrive. You will help us achieve our mission through innovative solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design/rearchitect our infrastructure platform components to be highly available scalable reliable and secure.
- Design implement and optimize Big Query datasets tables and queries for large scale analytics.
- Monitor and troubleshoot Big Query Performance including query optimization and cost management
- Manage and monitor data ingestion pipelines using tools like dataflow or Kafka
- Ensure Data security and compliance in Big Query including IAM Policy and data encryption
- Manage database schema changes using Automation tool like Liquibase or similar
- Ensure Observability is an integral part of the infrastructure platforms and provides adequate visibility about their health utilization and cost.
- Implement IaC using tools like Terraform/Terragrunt
- Build tools that predicts saturations/failures and takes preventive actions through automation.
- Collaborate extensively with cross functional teams to understand their requirements; educate them through documentation/trainings and improve the adoption of the platforms/tools.
Qualifications:
- 8 years of experience in building large scale distributed system in an always available production environment.
- 5 years of experience in building Infrastructure Platforms and CI/CD pipelines in a major public cloud provider GCP preferred; hands-on expertise in commonly used Cloud infrastructure/platforms services tools and services.
- Expertise with Big Query and working knowledge on AlloyDB Cloud Spanner is a plus.
- Experience with Data Pipeline tools like Dataflow Kafka or Pub/Sub and Kubernetes and its ecosystem
- Experience in PythonShell/Bash Scriptingor a similar language.
- Fast learner and able to troubleshoot complex scenarios while process large volumes of data (Terabytes and Petabytes)
- Hand-on experience with observability platforms/tools like Grafana/Prometheus.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring junior engineers; strong verbal and written communications.
- GCP certification would be added advantage
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent.
