MDG Data Engineer (SAP Master Data Governance)

Job Summary
GBS Chevron Global Business Services (GBS) located in Buenos Aires (Puerto Madero) Argentina is accepting applications for the position of MDG Data Engineer (SAP Master Data Governance). Successful candidates will join the IT Organization which is part of a multifunction service and technical center with a workforce of more than 1800 employees that deliver business services and solutions to the corporation across the globe.
The MDG Data Engineer is responsible for building enhancing and supporting SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) solutions to ensure highquality compliant and governed master data across the enterprise. This role works closely with business stakeholders data stewards functional teams and integration partners to deliver endtoend master data solutions across SAP S/4HANA and nonSAP systems.
The role combines MDG configuration data modeling workflow integration with strong collaboration across functional technical and governance teams.
Key Responsibilities
MDG Solution Design & Build
- Configure and enhance SAP MDG data models (e.g. Business Partner Material Finance Asset / EAM objects) including custom extensions where required
- Implement MDG Central Governance processes including:
- Change Request (CR) types
- Workflow design and approvals
- Business rules and validations
- Configure Fiori and UI components (standard and extended) to support MDG processes
Data Integration & Replication
- Configure and support MDG replication using DRF (Data Replication Framework)
- Implement replication to:
- SAP S/4HANA instances (upstream/downstream multiinstance scenarios)
- NonSAP systems and external platforms
- Implement replication filters and models to ensure correct organizational and systemspecific data distribution
Data Conversion & Migration
- Support initial data loads and ongoing data migration into MDG and S/4HANA
- Collaborate with Data Services / ETL teams to:
- Ensure alignment between MDG staging key mapping and target systems
Data Quality & Governance
- Implement and enforce data quality rules validations and mandatory field logic
- Support data governance operating models by working with:
- Data Stewards
- Data Owners
- Business Process Owners
- Troubleshoot and resolve MDG data quality workflow and replication issues
Environment & Release Support
- Support MDG activities across environments (DEV TEST UAT PROD)
- Participate in:
- Release planning
- Cutover activities
- Hypercare and postgolive support
- Follow transport documentation and audit standards
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with:
- Functional leads (FI MM SD PM/EAM)
- Basis and Security teams
- Integration and Reporting teams
- Contribute to MDG playbooks standards and best practices
- Identify opportunities to improve performance reusability and process efficiency
Required Skills & Experience
Core Technical Skills
- Strong handson experience with SAP Master Data Governance (MDG)
- Solid understanding of:
- MDG data models
- Change Request framework
- Workflow configuration
- Business rules and validations
- Experience with DRF replication and MDG integration patterns
- Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA master data objects (BP Material Finance EAM)
Data & Integration Skills
- Experience supporting data conversion or migration initiatives
- Familiarity with SAP Data Services (BODS) or similar ETL tools is a strong plus
- Understanding of key mapping staging tables and reconciliation concepts
Functional & Process Knowledge
- Good understanding of endtoend business processes impacted by master data
- Ability to translate business requirements into MDG technical solutions

Nice to Have
- Experience in multiinstance S/4HANA landscapes
- Exposure to Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) MDG extensions
- Prior experience in large SAP transformation or Digital Core programs
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and operating models
Education
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
