Position Summary
Accountable for delivering procurement results in support of the Innovative Medicine Japan business strategy. The role partners with Japan IM business leaders and procurement category teams to execute sourcing strategies lead procurement projects and manage supplier relationships. Focus is on execution excellence within Japan.
Will be responsible for leading critical procurement processes and projects as part of an agile team and acting as a regional category champion within the broader IM APAC procurement team. This role requires engaging with business partners and stakeholders to align procurement activities with the organizations objectives. The individual will also provide sourcing supplier relationship management project management leadership and oversight to ensure timely on-budget and high-quality delivery of priorities.
The roles scope of responsibilities include:
Understand the Japan Innovative Medicine business priorities and partner with Procurement Category Leaders to devise strategies that advance those priorities
Collaborate with senior business leaders to ensure Procurement strategies meet the business needs and are adopted within the business
Identify local or regional or business area specific industry trends that Procurement must build into its category strategies to ensure sustainable relevance to the business
Lead major strategic sourcing events and negotiations and projects as required mostly focusing on Japan J&J IM but sometimes including other parts of the organization
Deliver against performance targets for the Innovative Medicine Procurement organization in the roles areas of responsibility and ensure target achievement
Major Duties & Responsibilities
35%-Lead sourcing events negotiations and supplier selections for Japan
30%-Execute procurement projects aligned to category and business strategies
20%-Partner with Japan business stakeholders to support IM priorities
15%-Supplier management continuous improvement and procurement community engagement
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors degree required; MBA preferred
- Experience: 57 years relevant procurement experience
- Pharmaceutical or life science experience is an asset
Skills:
- Business-level Japanese and English
- Procurement execution expertise negotiation stakeholder management project leadership as well as strong business acumen influencing and cross-functional collaboration skills
