Were looking for a BackEnd Engineer.
The Core Team is the backbone of Translateds engineering organization. We own and evolve the backend systems and orchestration layer that powers how the company operates - from internal tooling and automations to translator-facing platforms and operational workflows.
If you care about writing clean reliable backend code that real people depend on every day - translators operations teams and colleagues across the company - this is your team.
Youll work on meaningful problems: designing and building internal platforms automating complex workflows and improving the tools that help Translated scale efficiently. Youll collaborate closely with other engineers product stakeholders and non-technical users - and youll have real ownership of what you build.
Responsibilities
- Design build and maintain backend services and internal platforms used across the company
- Own features and projects end-to-end from technical design to production
- Contribute to automation and orchestration systems that improve operational efficiency
- Participate in code reviews both giving and receiving thoughtful feedback
- Write tests and take code quality seriously (without being dogmatic about it)
- Collaborate with teammates across engineering product and operations
- Write clear technical documentation that others can actually use
Requirements
- 3 years of experience in backend software development
- Proficiency in (TypeScript and JavaScript)
- Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases (MySQL)
- Solid understanding of server-side web application architectures
- Comfortable working with Docker and containerized environments
- Proficiency in Git and GitHub-based workflows
- Enjoys owning problems end-to-end and will go out of their way to acquire whatever knowledge it takes to get the job done
- Excellent communication skills - able to talk about technical topics with non-technical people clearly and without condescension
Nice to Have
- Experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with Docker Swarm or Kubernetes
- Experience with AWS services (especially S3 Lambda SQS EC2)
- Knowledge of Test Driven Development principles
- Experience with the Koa web framework
- Linux shell scripting and Unix system administration
