What Youll Do
Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Programmers develop and write programs for CMM machines using engineering specifications and drawings. This individual will be part of a team that is responsible for developing maintaining and improving processes for the manufacturing of inert components and/or develop maintain and improve inspection programs of inert components. This position will primarily focus on CMMs to include programming procedure development and daily interaction and troubleshooting for CMM work at the Advanced Fabrication Facility (AFF). Primary functions of this job include but is not limited to analyzing engineering drawings to determine type and sequence of inspection operations and develop inspection programs for machined and/or printed components. This position requires the ability to review and understand complex engineering drawings which includes understanding geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles and ability to create solid models from the drawings.

- OR Masters Degree
- NOTE: Applicants without a Bachelors Degree may be considered based on a combination of 8 or more years of completed education and/or relevant experience

Preferred Job Requirements
- High School Graduate or Equivalent: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience (within the last 7 years)
- Applicants shall have experience reading and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) drawings. Applicants CMM experience shall be related to operation of CMMs. Must have two (2) years of experience in PC-DMIS CMM programming
- OR Applicants may be considered based on 8 years relevant experience satisfactory to line management in the performance of work as stated in the functions and responsibilities of this job description
- Thorough knowledge and operating experience of CMMs
- Thorough knowledge and operating experience of PC-DMIS software
- Knowledge and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Knowledge and understanding of CREO NC Software and ability to interpret 3D Computer Aided Designs (CAD) models
- Knowledge and understanding of typical computer applications such as Microsoft Office applications
- Provide feedback on CMM machines and manufacturing processes to engineering team to support future technical improvements
- Support engineering group with Digital Transformation improvement efforts including Windchill Process Plans ePDM implementation and configuration management of CMM programs
- Evaluate existing fixtures tooling and machining processes and identify and implement process improvements to optimize quality productivity and cost
- Create new and correct modify and rewrite existing CMM inspection programs from solid models and/or engineering drawings that are accurate repeatable and minimize inspection time
- Interface with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine programmers and engineers during development of machining processes
- Understanding of production processes and ensure inspection methods align with manufacturing capabilities
- Assists and works with Engineering Technicians of all levels in the familiarization and performance of processes techniques and procedures
- Hands-on experience operating CMM and measurement tools is preferred
