Job Summary
Our goal is to showcase why Peets is the unique and special place it is - and give students like you an opportunity to learn about our culture operations decision making processes and day-to-day business.
The program will be primarily project-based work and day-to-day shadowing/mentorship. The Interns will fill their weeks shadowing core members of the team to learn how their department functions and supports Peets business while focusing efforts on completing their project. The day-to-day activities will vary depending on which department you will support.
We anticipate offering a variety of engagement activities including but not limited to: Roasting Plant Tour Coffee Tasting Tea 101 Career Coaching and Coffee Chat with Stuart Heflin our President. These engagement activities are set to occur every other week. The connections you make here will be connections for life and help you transition to the working world after look forward to hosting you at Peets!
Based in Peets Home Office in Emeryville CA- we require all employees to work onsite 3 days per week. This is a part-time paid internship at $25.00/hr and will require a 24 hours/week commitment from June 8-August 7 2026.

What You Will Do:
As a Quality & Food Safety Supplier Systems Intern at Peets Coffee you will learn how to build a risk-based supplier management system. Creating an effective supplier management system allows the business to assess risk and opportunities while tracking performance trends. You will help modify and enhance the current system while building an excel based dashboard allowing supplier data to be easily assessable and usable.
This internship program will give you a hands-on experience to give you a strong foundation in food safety supplier management. If selected you will be given the opportunity to go beyond the data by visiting one of our suppliers and participate in a facility inspection.

Who You Are (Qualifications and Skills):
Technical Skills:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Food Science or a related field (e.g. Food Engineering Agricultural Science Agribusiness).
- Enrolled as a full time or part-time student at a California University/ College.
- Foundational knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Preventive Controls for Human Food.
- Familiar with food safety certification and auditing standards (e.g. SQF FSSC 22000).
- Working knowledge of applicable state and federal food laws and regulations.
- General understanding of food processing.
- Introductory knowledge of document control and quality systems.
- Understanding of sanitation programs and hygienic design principles.
