Basic Job Functions:
We are seeking an Automation Engineer who will take ownership over automation and electrical functions at Nucor Towers & Structures Alabama (NTSAL).
NTSAL will feature state-of-the-art controls automation and robotics for advanced steel manufacturing and the teammate will be responsible for maximizing machine productivity. The teammate must be able to support the integration of robots into custom designed manufacturing cells and fabrication processes.
- Install maintain and upgrade automation systems at key points in the production process
- Troubleshoot non-functioning components including servos sensors and control components
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs HMIs and robotic systems
- Attend automation robotics and equipment supplier training
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in a STEM field or equivalent work experience
- Diverse background in PLCs HMIs and industrial controls
- Ability to travel for training and alignment with the other NTS sites
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs HMIs and drives
- Experience with ABB robots
- Experience working in a greenfield environment
- Experience with Ignition or other SCADA platforms
