Group Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer

JOB PURPOSE:
The Campus Recreation Fitness Program strives to encourage a healthy balanced lifestyle to all participants through inspiration teamwork and positivity. Our instructors and trainers are a team dedicated to getting people moving together. As a fitness team member you will be exposed to educational topics around exercise science and programming team building and leadership. Your entry into teaching fitness or training clients follows a clearly structured shadowing process (usually lasting one semester) to ensure you have the knowledge skills and abilities to deliver impactful movement-based experiences.
- Obtain andmaintainnecessary fitness certifications within the first 6 months of employment.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive group exercise environment and ensure that every participant has a positive movement-based experience.
- Design and implement safe effective and enjoyable group fitness classesand/or training sessions with a variety of clientele.
- Have a solid understanding of exercise science class program design concepts and wellness principles.
- Must be familiar with current UW Campus Recreation Fitness offerings.
- Trainers must be able to conduct fitness assessments and monitor client progress. This may include assessments of body composition cardiorespiratory fitness flexibility mobility muscular strength and muscular endurance asappropriate forclient goals.
- Provide personalized attention and customer service to clients and Campus Recreation patrons.
- Utilize necessary client scheduling and fitness software.
- Show proof of CPR/1stAid or be able to obtain within 6 months of employment.
- Attend andparticipatein monthly staff meetings.
- Display a positive eager-to-learn attitude andstrong communicationskills.
- Experience working with real people in a group and/or one-on-one exercise setting.
- Access to Half Acre facility study materials mentors peers and various leadership styles.

- Partial certification reimbursement if conditions are met.
- Assistwith special programs/workshops/fairs.
- Assistwith cleaning tasks and other duties assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- MUST BE A STUDENT to apply.
- MUST graduate NO EARLIER thanMay2027.
- Holding a current Fitness Certificationis NOT required toapply but MUST BE OBTAINED within the first semester of employment while completing the shadowing process.
