Purpose

Participate in seasoning development projects in order to ensure effective and successful creation process in cooperation with customers according to business objectives and EH&S policies.

Core Responsibilities

Seasoning Preparation & Evaluation

• Prepare seasoning samples as requested for customer briefs applications needs technology performance assessment QC standards physical testing etc.
• Formulate new basic seasoning creations or modify existing seasonings to meet customer requirements internal testing needs or new technology development for multiple seasoning types
• Participate in the evaluation of seasoning materials developed internally or from external sources and assess potential for seasoning creation
• Execute daily brief-related tasks and fully manage assigned projects and provide seasonings which meet all defined customer needs which meet good manufacturing practices sample scale-up production requirements regulatory compliance etc. as well as leading customer visits and travelling to customers when required
• Ensure seasoning performance in the finished application through close collaboration with application technologist and factory trials
• Support seasoning validation during pilot plant and factory trials to ensure technical success and scalability

Proactive Development

• Proactively develop seasoning concepts platforms and improvements to strengthen the technical portfolio and support commercial opportunities.
• Identify opportunities to optimise existing seasoning formulations for improved performance cost efficiency or differentiation.

Speed to market / Efficiency

• Support turnaround of customer briefs and internal project timelines.
• Prioritise and manage multiple briefs to ensure timely delivery of high-quality seasoning samples

Cross Functional Collaboration

• Translate customer insights market trends and commercial objectives into relevant seasoning solutions
• Contribute technical insights to support project win strategies and customer presentations
• Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing sales sensory regulatory and manufacturing teams to ensure seasoning solutions meet customer and business requirements

Knowledge Sharing & Expertise

• Serve as a technical expert and advisor to marketing sales and customers for ingredient and flavour performance for multiple seasoning types
• Participate and learn about all areas of the company directly related to executing customer briefs (analytical chemistry sensory consumer understanding regulatory flavour delivery manufacturing etc.)
• Provide technical support resolve seasoning production issues and customer complaints with complete ownership of created seasonings
• Coach train and motivate seasoning assistants
• Document formulation learnings raw material performance and project outcomes to support knowledge sharing and future project success

Environmental Health & Safety

• Maintain a safe clean and organized lab environment in accordance with EH&S policies and hold others accountable for following these guidelines

Your profile:

• Polytechnic or Bachelors Degree in Food Science Chemistry Biology
• Completion of the Givaudan Seasoning Trainee Programme or accepted industry equivalent
• 6-8 years of experience within a Savoury and/or Snack background or related area
• Expert level tasting skills with the ability to understand how to adjust a seasoning formulation in the direction needed for modifications
• Expert knowledge of raw materials and seasoning ingredients with strong formulation capability across multiple seasoning types to deliver targeted flavour performance and functional requirements.
• Expert ability to interface with customers and effectively discuss the seasoning creation needs for multiple seasoning types
• Project management skills with the ability to successfully lead selected development projects
• Comprehensive knowledge of local and regional regulatory requirements for seasonings
• Ability to prepare and present seasoning creation related technical presentations
• In depth knowledge of application equipment ingredients and manufacturing procedures for the production of snack products
• In depth knowledge of seasoning manufacturing equipment and processes
• Ability to train guide and supervise application technologists/lab assistants to ensure efficient lab operations and development output
