Assistant Legal Manager
Job Summary
- Contract Management
- Draft review and negotiate contracts agreements and other legal documents.
- Identify potential legal risks and ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
- Litigation & External Counsel Coordination
- Liaise with external solicitors and consultants to ensure effective handling of legal matters.
- Monitor ongoing litigation and provide updates to management.
- Coordinate witnesses and counsel for upcoming matters.
- Legal Advisory & Research
- Provide timely legal opinions and support to business units.
- Conduct legal research to support informed decision-making.
- Advise on regulatory compliance and emerging legal issues.
- Debt Recovery Oversight
- Monitor debt recovery cases and recommend appropriate actions.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with recovery procedures.
- Support the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for recoveries.
- Regulatory Monitoring
- Track and report on new laws regulations and policies impacting the Group.
- Advise management on implications and required actions.
- Training & Development
- Deliver training sessions for business units and the legal department.
- Participate in continuous professional development through internal and external training programs.
- Company Secretarial Duties
- Assist with preparation of meeting minutes and other secretarial functions.
- Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping of resolutions and corporate documents.
- Policy & SOP Development
- Develop and implement SOPs for vendor registration and other legal processes.
- Ensure enforceability and effective execution across the Group.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree; BL required.
- Minimum of 6-8 years post-call experience in corporate legal practice or in-house counsel role.
- Strong knowledge of contract law corporate governance litigation management and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent drafting negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
