TITLE

Executive Director Institute for Womens Health

JOB SUMMARY

The Executive Director of the Institute for Womens Health (IWH) at Texas Womans University (TWU) provides visionary leadership to enhance the health and well-being of women across the lifespan through research education advocacy and community engagement. The Executive Director sets the strategic vision for the Institute directs academic and clinical initiatives and fosters partnerships that advance womens health outcomes. Work is performed under general supervision and performance is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Dean Health Sciences

Supervises: Students faculty and staff that support the Institute for Womens Health

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include but not limited to the following:

Establish and execute the Institutes vision and long-term strategic plan in alignment with TWUs mission and priorities.

Direct the two campus-based Assistant Directors responsible for specialized services on their respective campuses.

Represent the Institute as a leader in womens health research education and advocacy at state national and international levels.

Lead and promote womens health research initiatives; secure and manage external funding to expand the Institutes scholarly portfolio.

Guide and support affiliate faculty across TWU engaged in research teaching and service in womens health.

Develop interprofessional and cross-campus collaborations that foster innovation in womens health science and practice.

Oversee Institute budgets resources and compliance with university and sponsor policies.

Supervise student workers and staff ensuring their work aligns with IWH goals and objectives.

Evaluate program impact establish performance benchmarks and report on Institute outcomes.

Advance education and training in womens health through academic programming seminars and student opportunities.

Support the delivery of womens health services to TWU students and local communities.

Advocate for womens health equity through partnerships with healthcare organizations community agencies and policymakers.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Performs other duties as requested.

EDUCATION

Doctoral degree (PhD EdD DNP MD or equivalent) in a health-related discipline represented at TWU (e.g. kinesiology nutrition nursing occupational therapy physical therapy public health speech-language pathology).

EXPERIENCE

Demonstrated leadership in womens health research education and/or program development.

REQUIREMENT

Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.

All employees share the responsibility of maintaining information security and privacy requirements within the university by adhering to Federal and State regulations and TWU Policies & Procedures.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES - The following are essential:

Ability to demonstrate a record of scholarly achievement extramural funding and/or community health initiatives.

Skills in administrative budgeting staff management and program oversight.

Ability to travel regularly to TWUs three campuses (Dallas Denton and Houston).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employees are responsible for completing assigned tasks safely and efficiently and supervisors are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment. Employees must report any unsafe work conditions or practices as well as any near-miss incidents to their supervisor and Risk Management. Supervisors and employees should ensure that injury/accident reports are submitted to the Office of Human Resources and Risk Management within 24 hours of the incident
