Conducts independent research in a specific scientific area designs experiments analyzes data and presents findings. Oversees and assists junior research staff and students.
Essential Functions:- Designs experiments develops protocols and conducts independent research. Develops project aims objectives and experimental techniques.
- Supervises and mentors junior research staff and students. Trains and supervises technical support staff in performing specific techniques essential to carrying out the research program.
- Records and analyzes data generated by the research study. Develops hypotheses for further investigation from the results of the studies performed.
- Independently prepares scientific and technical papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Presents findings at local and national research forums. Writes first drafts of grant proposals and manuscripts. May be CO-PI on grant applications.
- Collaborates with other ongoing research efforts either at NCH or at The Ohio State University.
- Prepares to submit proposals to and obtain funding from external granting agencies.
