The Opportunity
Join our Global Technology Operations (GTO) team as an MQ Specialist where youll play a crucial role in designing implementing and maintaining IBM MQ middleware solutions. Youll work in a modern CI/CD environment ensuring reliable messaging deployment automation and operational excellence across our technology infrastructure.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Design install configure and maintain IBM MQ infrastructure across development staging and production environments
Automate MQ provisioning licensing and maintenance using Puppet and Terraform
Implement and manage MQ channels queues topics lifecycles and security protocols
Integrate IBM MQ with CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless deployment processes
Troubleshoot performance reliability and security issues to maintain optimal system performance
Monitor MQ health and implement alerting logging and incident response processes
Manage user permissions auditing and compliance requirements
Collaborate with developers to ensure reliable message-based integrations and resilient deployments
Who Are We Looking For
We look for big thinkers. People who can drive positive change step up and show whats next people with passion can-do attitude and a hunger to learn and practice this means:
5-9 years of strong practical experience with IBM MQ (installation configuration tuning queue management JMS/MQI)
Proficiency in DevOps tooling including CI/CD pipelines infrastructure as code and configuration management
Hands-on experience with Puppet for automation and configuration management
Familiarity with Python integrations particularly pymqi
Experience in Linux system administration specifically RHEL environments
Ability to author and maintain clear runbooks automation scripts and monitoring dashboards
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced DevOps environment
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across diverse teams
IBM MQ Advanced or equivalent certification (preferred)
Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker Kubernetes or OpenShift (preferred)
Cloud experience with AWS Azure or GCP platforms (preferred)
Scripting proficiency in Shell and Python (preferred)
