The Lean Specialist will be a key driver of operational excellence within our large transformer manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for defining developing and implementing lean improvement projects that align with our strategic business objectives and our mission to electrify the world. The successful candidate will identify and prioritize opportunities to improve flow and eliminate waste using best-practice lean toolssuch as Kanban Just-In-Time (JIT) Value Stream Mapping (VSM) 5S and Visual Managementto drive significant improvements in Safety Quality Delivery and Cost (SQDC). Roles and Responsibilities
Lean Implementation:
- Spearhead and facilitate lean projects across diverse manufacturing and support functions.
- Deploy lean tools and methodologies (e.g. 5S Kaizen VSM) to optimize workflows and maximize throughput in a complex manufacturing environment.
Coaching and Training:
- Mentor and empower employees at all levels from the shop floor to management in lean principles and sustainable practices.
- Design and lead engaging workshops to build long-term lean capabilities and a problem-solver mindset across the organization.
Process Improvement:
- Identify high-impact opportunities for process optimization and lead cross-functional teams to execute transformative changes.
- Establish robust metrics to monitor the impact of lean initiatives ensuring results are both measurable and sustainable.
- Partner with technical teams to analyze manual processes and proactively identify opportunities for automation and robotization to enhance precision and safety.
Cultural Change:
- Act as a catalyst for a culture of continuous improvement ensuring lean thinking is integrated into daily operations.
- Engage and inspire employees to participate in improvement projects recognizing and scaling grassroots innovations.
Data Analysis:
- Leverage data and operational metrics to drive objective decision-making and validate project effectiveness.
- Synthesize complex data into clear reports and presentations for senior leadership to communicate progress and strategic outcomes.
Collaboration:
- Partner closely with department heads project managers and team leaders to ensure lean efforts are synchronized with broader business goals.
- Break down silos by fostering open communication and collaborative problem-solving across the facility.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college.
- Proven hands-on experience applying Lean tools and methodologies in a manufacturing setting.
- Post Qualification experience of minimum 3 years in lean manufacturing process improvement operational excellence or relevant field.
Desired Characteristics
- Lean Expertise:Strong mastery of lean principles with a Green Belt (or higher) certification preferred.
- Change Leadership:Demonstrated success in driving cultural shifts and sustaining the adoption of new ways of working.
- Influential Communication:Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally and persuasively with diverse groups including executives vendors and frontline teams.
- Analytical Problem-Solver:Highly analytical with the ability to resolve complex technical and organizational challenges using quantitative logic.
- Proactive Mindset:Self-motivated and capable of setting independent action plans to drive proactive improvements.
- Technical Familiarity:Knowledge of procedures and planning; familiarity with GE Vernovas products and the specific challenges of large-scale electrical infrastructure manufacturing is a plus.
