Job description

This role leads and directs experienced professionals with strong technical scientific backgrounds in the field of drinking water quality and allied industries. The role requires a high level of expertise in all aspects of drinking water supply; the interpretation of law fair and proportionate enforcement of legal requirements and the provision of sound advice
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Management: Leading a team of technical scientific professionals efficiently managing resources and delivering objectives.
- Assessment of the performance of Scottish Water in delivery of statutory duties and protection of public health advising DWQR of necessary enforcement actions.
- Ensuring leading where necessary investigations into operational events and incidents providing independent reports with recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- Providing expert advice on drinking water quality including private supplies supporting the development of regulatory policies.
- Maintaining relationships with Scottish water and other water companies local authorities other regulators industry bodies and research groups
Qualifications
Qualifications Required
- A scientific degree or equivalent qualification in subject related to drinking water supply or water quality.
- Technically experienced in a relevant discipline (such as microbiology chemistry or engineering ideally to postgraduate level with chartered status (or working toward)
Working Pattern
This role is a permanent level transfer position.
