- at least one year of relevant experience in research-related activities including project coordination data collection research implementation or study management
- ability to liaise with stakeholders
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office web-based surveys and other relevant tools
- ability to manage time and prioritise tasks effectively
- ability to work effectively in teams and demonstrate resilience under work pressure
- strong report writing and manuscript writing skills
- willingness to work in community settings and travel as per work requirements
- familiarity with social media content development and academic writing will be considered an added advantage.

Research Coordinator Brain and Mind Institute
Introduction:

The Brain and Mind Institute (BMI) is a newly minted entity at the Aga Khan University (AKU) with key hubs in Nairobi (for East Africa) and Karachi (for South and Central Asia). The BMI seeks to build capacity in the domains of mental health and collaboration with partners the Institute is advancing research leadership capacity and support service delivery across East Africa and South Asia and other regions served by the AKU. The Institute supports a hub for scholarship exchange and action on mental health issues as well as educational clinical and community-based programs. BMIs research focuses on the context of todays youth in Africa and South Asia while our programmatic offerings address mental health related and brain health issues including stigma and resiliency. A significant area of interest is the implementation of science-based programming in hospital and community settings that translate new discoveries into prevention and treatment programs.
This is a short-term grant-funded contractual position.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible to:
- coordinate and collaborate closely with the research specialist to oversee day-to-day operational activities of the project and ensure adherence to study protocols timelines and implementation plans
- liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders including implementation partners to facilitate smooth coordination of project activities and research operations
- assist in planning scheduling and execution of field activities trainings meetings and study-related engagements including logistical and administrative support
- oversee and support data management processes including data entry documentation and basic data visualisation or reporting tasks as assigned
- maintain project documentation trackers and records to ensure compliance with institutional and study requirements
- draft communication materials for social media such as community announcements concept notes briefs and short research summaries for internal and external dissemination
- manage and support project-related communication content including social media posts and updates
- write and incorporate feedback in manuscripts and reports
- provide ongoing updates of activities to the research leadership
- compile and support preparation of periodic reports presentations and summaries for internal meetings stakeholders and funders
- assist in transcription of qualitative research materials as required
- provide translation support for research tools consent forms and transcripts as required by the project
- perform any additional project-related tasks assigned by the research leadership team.
