Machine Operator / General Laborer 2nd Shift
Shift: 2:30 PM 11:00 PM
Location: Wabuska NV (Located outside of Silver Springs)
Job Summary
The Machine Operator / General Laborer is responsible for setting up operating and tending industrial machinery used to shape and form products such as rubber or plastics. This role also supports material handling production flow and general labor activities throughout the facility. The position requires attention to detail adherence to safety and quality standards and the ability to work efficiently in a manufacturing environment.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Production
- Set up operate and monitor machines including glass-forming plodder and tuber machines.
- Adjust machine components to regulate speeds pressures temperatures material flow dimensions and output.
- Press control buttons and turn controls to activate and regulate machinery including air pressure vacuum levels and coolant flow.
- Review work orders specifications and instructions to determine materials procedures settings and adjustments.
- Monitor machine operations and observe gauges indicators and warning lights to detect malfunctions.
- Synchronize machine sections when products require multiple steps or processes.
- Clear machine jams and remove defective or substandard materials or products.
- Clean dies arbors compression chambers and molds using approved tools and methods.
Quality Control & Documentation
- Examine measure and weigh materials or finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards using measuring tools such as templates micrometers and scales.
- Notify supervisors when products or extruded filaments fail to meet specifications.
- Record and maintain accurate production data including meter readings quantities types and dimensions of materials produced.
- Read work orders or receive verbal instructions to determine assignments and material or equipment needs.
Material Handling & Logistics
- Move raw materials supplies components and finished products between storage work areas and production lines using hand tools racks hoists hand trucks or powered equipment.
- Load and unload freight at loading docks delivery vehicles or containers by hand or with equipment such as trucks or tractors.
- Sort cargo prior to loading and unloading and attach identifying tags or markings to containers.
- Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers as needed.
- Install protective devices such as padding bracing or strapping to prevent damage during transport.
- Attach slings hooks or lifting devices to guide and secure loads.
- Maintain organized and secure equipment and material storage areas to protect inventory.
- Record quantities of materials or units moved using production sheets or work tickets.
- Carry tools and supplies from storage or vehicles to work areas and return them after use.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform all duties in compliance with safety policies and procedures.
- Support team operations and production goals as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
