What youll be doing

In a retail world thats evolving faster than ever automation isnt just a buzzwordits a game-changer. As our DPS (Dynamic Picking System) Departmental Manager youll lead a large team daily. Youll ensure that customer service is at the forefront of mind. Additionally youll deliver levels of operational efficiency across all your areas of remit.

You will guide smarter more efficient ways of working through automation reducing waste activity and developing broad teams and creating a can do culture in our organisation.

You will be responsible for our state-of-the-art outbound automated pick by light and pick pack and dispatch operation. You will lead a large team of colleagues through 18 direct reports who are working across 2 shifts.

Manage both Boots and agency colleague performance absence and accuracy.

You will also require yourself to own and lead multiple projects as part of your role always maintaining a mindset on continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • You will service 1900 stores

  • Manage 1000 colleagues out of peak across both agency and core Boots teams with headcount increasing during peak

  • Experience providing meaningful CI programmes is necessary.

To lead a team who are focused on maximising shelf availability and delivering the highest service level possible to stores and accurate receiving picking and despatching of stock

Manage performance of staff and achieve the throughputs in their functional area

To control and manage budgets

To ensure team members receive performance reviews

To make short-term tactical decisions in the operation to overcome anything that may affect on service to stores or availability of products

To link up with other Department Managers during the working day to ensure management of the warehouse

To maintain a handover from the off going shift the preparation and delivery of pre-shift briefings and the coordination of activity and maintenance of a positive working relationship with the wider management team

To implement short and medium operational plans within the warehouse

To lead the Health and Safety and Shrink agenda with own team and operating area

To ensure that a positive culture is created through recognition and support also responsible for ensuring that the partnership process is supported and visible to the team

What youll need to have (our must-haves)

People leader with high standards

Experience managing and motivating a large operational team including planning and organising exposure to controlling costs and managing a budget.

Experience working and knowledge of Supply Chain warehouse processes and flows.

Effective working & strong communication skills that are effective at all levels.

Support Team Leaders in developing themselves & their teams and managing performance issues that are fundamental to a successful operation.

The ability to interpret high-level data forward thinking promote & motivate teams to achieve results and help to create a culture that they are proud to work in.

It would be great if you also have

  • Good level of automation experience would be ideal

  • Proficient in MS office applications / Power BI

  • Create teams and succession for the future.
