Position Title: ABC Pre-Kindergarten Para Professional
Department: District Wide
Reports To: Program Director
Contract: 2026-2027 School Year

SUMMARY: Aides and supports teachers and other licensed personnel in implementing the instructional programs and related services for students in Pre-Kindergarten classrooms. The Para Educator also supports the social emotional and academic needs of the Pre-Kindergarten students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implements instructional activities with students as directed by the teacher/building principal in school and community sites.
- Provides support to meet student needs using a firm but soft demeanor to help maintain classroom control.
- Assists in the preparation of lesson plans instructional materials and data collection.
- Prepares to assume responsibility of instructional duties as prescribed.
- Acquires knowledge of the curriculum content of the classes in which he/she assists.
- Implements behavior management techniques as directed by Teacher Behavior Intervention Specialist or Building Principal.
- Completes daily work schedules as assigned by the teacher/principal.
- Assists the teacher with the maintenance of the classroom.
- Assists with duties such as lunchroom recess bus etc.
- Participates in in-services as directed.
- Knowledge of and adherence to Board of Education policies and District and School guidelines and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE: A CDA credential or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education is required (If based in Title I school Highly qualified Para Pro may be required). Experience in field related to working with 3 and 4-year-old students in a classroom daycare or child care facility or an alternative learning environment/multi-age classrooms is desired.
