Job Summary

Job Title: Application Data Modeler

Duration: ContracttoHire (CTH)

Location: Remote

Role Overview

We are seeking an Application Data Modelerto design and optimize data structures supporting interactive software applications and online transaction processing (OLTP) systems. This role requires strong expertise in database design data modelling and governance with handson experience across multiple relational database platforms. The ideal candidate will bridge technical design with business needs ensuring scalable compliant and welldocumented data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design and maintain conceptual logical and physical data modelsfor OLTP systems.
Develop and optimize relational database schemaswith proper normalization (up to 3NF).
Collaborate with application teams to ensure models align with interactive software requirements.
Implement and enforce data governance standardsacross platforms.
Utilize data catalog tools(Alation Collibra or comparable) to manage metadata and ensure data accessibility.
Generate and validate SQL scripts from modeling tools to support schema creation and updates.
Partner with crossfunctional teams to ensure consistency compliance and scalability of data solutions.

Technical Skills

Interactive software applicationsand OLTP systemsexperience.
Database designand data modeling(conceptual logical physical).
Relational databases: PostgreSQL (primary) with exposure to MySQL and Oracle for crossplatform understanding.
Normalization (3NF)and schema optimization.
SQL scripting: Strong understanding of SQL dialects; not required to be a PostgreSQL expert but must grasp differences across platforms.
Modeling tools: Proficiency with DB Schema (preferred) Irwin ER Studio or cloudbased modeling solutions.

Data Governance & Catalogs

Experience with metadata managementand data catalog platforms.
Handson with Alation(preferred) or comparable tools such as Collibra.
Strong grasp of data catalog principlesbeyond tool usage.
