Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Neuro ICU
Location: New York NY
Duration: 13 Weeks (Contract)
Schedule: Night Shift 7:00 PM 7:30 AM
Hours: 34.5 Hours/Week
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-acuity care for patients transitioning from intensive care. This role involves close monitoring advanced clinical interventions and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for individuals requiring higher-level monitoring than general medical-surgical patients
- Perform frequent and detailed patient assessments and promptly escalate changes in condition
- Monitor and manage patients using advanced medical equipment including ventilators cardiac monitors feeding tubes and tracheostomies
- Administer medications IV therapies and assist with conscious sedation procedures
- Respond to emergencies including cardiac arrests and rapid response situations
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and care processes
Patient Population
- Adult to geriatric patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical Step-Down (SD) experience OR 2 years of ICU experience
- Minimum 2 years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience
- Minimum 2 years of conscious sedation experience
- Demonstrated competency in age-specific patient care
Preferred Skills
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work effectively in high-acuity fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
