We are seeking an Elementary Instructional Coach at James R. Watson Elementary for the 2026/2027 school year!
The Elementary Instructional Coach supports teachers and staff in improving instructional practices to increase student achievement. The coach works collaboratively with teachers intervention staff and administrators to implement research-based instructional strategies analyze student data and support high-quality instruction. The coach provides professional development facilitates PLCs and assists with the implementation of district curriculum assessments and instructional initiatives. The instructional coach focuses on strengthening teaching practices in literacy mathematics and other core content areas through modeling coaching collaborative planning and professional development.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality coaching to classroom teachers to improve instructional practices.
- Model research-based instructional strategies in classrooms.
- Conduct coaching cycles that may include planning observation modeling co-teaching and feedback.
- Support teachers in implementing district adopted curriculum and instructional programs.
- Assist teachers in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Support implementation of science of reading practices and evidence-based literacy instruction.
- Guide teachers in analyzing instructional practices and reflecting on student outcomes.
- Plan and deliver professional learning for teachers and staff including facilitating PLCs.
- Coordinate and support the MTSS process to enhance student learning.
- Coordinate and provide ongoing training for intervention staff.
- Schedule organize and track intervention services.
- Organize and analyze student data including universal screeners progress monitoring state assessments and district benchmark assessments.
- Collaborate with building leadership team to support school improvement goals.
- Assume responsibilities of the PAR for case conferences.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education.
- Valid Indiana teaching license.
- Minimum of 3-5 years successful classroom teaching experience (elementary preferred).
- Demonstrated expertise in literacy and mathematics instruction.
- Knowledge of MTSS data analysis and evidence-based instructional practices.
- Candidates may be either fully certified or actively working toward IDOEs. Science of Reading Certification.
- Experience implementing Science of Reading strategies in the classroom.
- Strong collaboration communication and leadership skills.
