Assignment Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Night Shift 3x12 Hours (7:00 PM 7:30 AM)
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality care in an inpatient psychiatric setting. This role focuses on patient safety crisis intervention and therapeutic communication to support individuals with mental health conditions.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in a behavioral health setting
- Assess monitor and document patient mental and physical health status
- Implement care plans and administer medications as prescribed
- Utilize crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
- Manage patients exhibiting aggressive or assaultive behavior safely
- Foster a therapeutic and supportive environment for patients
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
- Maintain accurate documentation using EMR systems
Required Qualifications
- Active New York RN License (required at time of submission)
- Minimum 1 year of Behavioral Health RN experience
- BLS Certification
- Experience in inpatient psychiatric settings
- Strong skills in crisis intervention and behavior management
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Epic charting system
- Knowledge of:
- De-escalation techniques
- Managing assaultive behavior
- Therapeutic communication approaches
