Visiting Faculty, School of Nursing Non-tenure track
Job Summary
Widener University is currently seeking a Visiting Professor in the School of Nursing. Reporting to the Dean the Visiting Professor of Nursing is a 10-month non-tenure track position. This position will contribute to undergraduate nursing education with a focus on Medical Surgical Nursing. This role emphasizes excellence in teaching student mentorship and service to the university and surrounding community while fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
Essential duties:
Teaching and Curriculum Development
- Design and deliver evidence-based teaching strategies for undergraduate nursing courses.
- Integrate innovative and inclusive pedagogical approaches into the curriculum.
Student Engagement
- Mentor and advise nursing students to support academic and professional growth.
- Promote a culture of equity inclusion and academic freedom fostering a welcoming environment for all students and colleagues.
Service & Collaboration
- Participate in service activities within the university School of Nursing and local community.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support the mission and goals of the School of Nursing.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Support and foster interprofessional education and collaborative practice experiences.
- Engage in clinical practice as required by advanced practice certification.
- Provide optional volunteer opportunities at the Widener Community Nursing Clinic offering pro bono care to underserved/uninsured populations.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned or directed to support departmental needs and align with the mission of the School of Nursing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:
- Masters degree in Nursing (MSN).
- Active RN license and eligibility for licensure in Pennsylvania.
- Three (3) years of academic teaching experience including clinical instruction. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Three (3) years of professional experience in Medical Surgical Nursing.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication and collaboration.
Preferred:
- Certification in Medical Surgical Nursing.
- Certification as a Nurse Educator (CNE) CNE Clinical and/or CNE Novice.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
- Evening teaching assignments may be required.
