Job Description:
This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional non-functional and compliance requirements coding solutions unit testing and ensuring the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear robust and well-tested interfaces. Job expectations include an awareness of development and testing practices in the industry.

Position Summary:

Accountable for building and unit testing of initiative and maintenance projects as well as application production resource will be expected to work with a team of resources both onshore and will require excellent analytical and system design skills mainframe DB2 batch environment.

Also needs focus on modernization strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
  • Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data application business) in design and development of client requirements
  • Performs Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) activities
  • Contributes to story refinement and definition of requirements
  • Participates in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle
  • Contributes to existing test suites (integration regression performance) analyze test reports identify any test issues/errors and triage the underlying cause
  • Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of application programming experience
  • Proficient in Cobol VSAM DB2 and JCL
  • MVS/TSO/ISPF
  • Experience with modernization strategies
  • Competency in JAVA
  • Knowledge of these tools or similar tools: FILE Manager RDZ (Cobol Debugger) MS Query
  • Experience with the MS Office Suite of Products (Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint)
  • Must have experience using Mainframe Development Tools and Version Control Software
  • Excellent analytical software design and documentation skills
  • Enhance and support mainframe-based application heavy in VSAM and flat-files with non-structured COBOL
  • Has experience debugging applications in a production support role

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to work on multiple deliverables simultaneously adhere to tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong organization skills
  • Experience with the development models and software development lifecycle (SDLC) model Working on Agile teams and experience with Agile is required.
  • Proficiency in JIRA
  • Competency with VISIO and SSRS would be a plus
  • Competency in CICS would be great but not required
  • Communicate effectively across varied areas including technology business units and senior leadership
  • Work on multiple projects concurrently
