Internship Dates:

June 1 2026 July 31 2026
Applicants must be available for the full 9-week program.



Work Schedule:

Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
Internships may be full-time or part-time. Specific schedules will be communicated prior to placement.



Position Overview:

Pref-Techs Summer Internship Program provides students with exposure to the security integration industry through hands-on experience in the field. This opportunity is open to all qualified applicants.


Technician Interns will gain practical experience in security integration to includefunctional understanding of low voltage systems and assisting in installation ofcabling mount equipment install card readers door contacts mag locks electrified strikes and integrated systems.


Due to job site safety requirements and federal labor regulations technician internships require participants to be at least 18 years old at the time of employment.



Duties and Responsibilities:

Intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:


  • Work with the on-site teams on construction sites and/or in active office spaces to get a sense of the day-to-day duties and responsibilities of the Operations department.
  • Become familiar with Company processes and operational techniques through completing required in-house training.
  • Opportunity to shadow team members.
  • Install cabling mount equipment install card readers door contacts mag locks electrified strikes and integrated systems.
  • Functional understanding of low voltage systems relays principals of normally closed/normally open series and parallel wiring.
  • Gain general understanding of Network Topology.
  • Use a multi-meter to test for voltage continuity and resistance.
  • Operate any hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.
  • Completing required in-house training to understand company processes and operational standards.
  • Participate in all required company events including (but not limited to) orientation onboarding trainings workshops department or companywide meetings mentorship activities and offsite visits as requested or required.


Required Qualifications:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Employment eligibility will be verified upon hire in accordance with federal law
  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to job site safety requirements and federal labor regulations
  • Reliable transportation to Pref-Techs Grand Prairie office: 1340 Post N Paddock St SteGrand Prairie TX
  • Availability for the full internship dates
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking standing lifting and navigating stairs or ladders with reasonable accommodation as applicable
  • Access to a cell phone for work-related communication


Physical Requirement:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks like walking standing driving.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50lbs unassisted.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions including heat and rain.
  • Capable of ascending and descending ladders (614 feet) and stairs of varying heights with minimal restrictions with or without reasonable accommodation.
