Youll operate at both strategic and tactical levelsdefining long-term roadmaps while remaining accountable for execution excellence. Partner with senior leaders across Supply Chain Manufacturing Regulatory and other organizations to drive alignment on complex technical and business decisions. Your leadership will directly impact how millions of packages are sorted through Amazons network every day.

A day in the life
Your day might start with a design review for a next-generation robotic system where you guide your team through complex trade-offs between performance cost and manufacturability. Youll spend time coaching one of your leads on how to force multiply their teams technical skills while preparing for an upcoming promotion cycle.
Mid-morning youll join a strategic planning session with senior leaders and Principal Engineers to align on the multi-year hardware roadmap contributing insights on emerging technologies and capability gaps. After lunch youll dive deep into a manufacturing issue affecting field deployment working with your team and supply chain partners to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Your afternoon includes one-on-ones with your team members where you provide guidance on handling key design challenges and career development. Youll review operational metrics with your organization celebrating wins and identifying areas for improvement. The day closes with a cross-functional meeting where you build consensus on a technical decision balancing input from multiple stakeholders to drive the right outcome for customers.
Throughout it all you remain connected to both strategic direction and tactical execution ensuring your organization delivers results while building capability for the future.
About the team
We at Amazon Robotics empower a smarter faster more consistent customer experience through automation. We design test and deploy innovative robotic solutions that move and sort billions of items through our fulfillment network every year. Our hardware team is responsible for delivering and maintaining safe cost-effective and reliable robotic systems by effectively integrating Mechanical Electrical Firmware and Software functions throughout the product lifecycle.
We collaborate closely with Supply Chain Regulatory and Manufacturing partners to bring ground breaking automation from concept to reality. Our work directly impacts customer experience operational efficiency and Amazons ability to deliver on our promises. We operate one of the largest commercial fleets of mobile robotic outbound automation systems in the world and were just getting started.
As a member of our Sortation leadership team youll work alongside colleagues who are committed to solving complex technical challenges while fostering an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives strengthen our solutions. Youll help shape how we develop talent make strategic decisions and build the next generation of automated outbound robotic systems that serve our customers.
- 10 years of engineering team management experience
- Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering Computer Engineering or a related field
- Experience in engineering team management
- Experience in manufacturing process or industrial engineering
- Experience developing and testing mechanical robotics equipment
- Experience in system-level integration
- Experience with DFx (cost test manufacturing)
- Masters degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Knowledge of MS Excel AutoCAD MS Project and software for technical document writing such as Visio Word or PowerPoint
- Experience in technical leadership of development testing and implementation of large-scale complex technology projects
- Experience working as a technical lead

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
